Sports competition for servicemen disabled during military service held in Yerevan
A sports competition was held on Saturday at the administrative building of the Ministry of Defense participated by servicemen disabled during the military service. The competition organized jointly by the Defense Ministry and “Satar” NGO brought together disabled military servicemen to compete in the chess, checkers, basketball, and table tennis.
According to the statement by the ministry, the competition that comes ahead of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities is aimed at “creating equal rights through sport and encourage the integration of those people into the society”.
The release reads that Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazaryan welcomed the participants, while Head of the Servicemen's Social Protection Department of the Defense Ministry, Colonel Serzh Arushanyan stressed that the social protection issues of the servicemen handicapped during the Artsakh liberation war or during the military service had always been in the focus of RA Armed Forces’ leadership attention, as evidenced by the fact that around 3 hundred people with disabilities serve I in the Armed Forces.
The competition was followed by an awarding ceremony for the winners.
