Cause of deadly train crash in Iran revealed
An operator in charge of a control center based in the city of Shahroud was blamed for the deadly train crash in Iran on November 25, Akbar Torkan, Aide to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated on Saturday, according to IRIB Agency.
To remind, the November 25 collision in the northern province of Semnan was one of Iran's worst rail disasters ever that killed at least 45 people and injured dozens.
According to the statement, the person told the driver of one of the trains to manually disable an automated system that was preventing it from moving toward the second train, which was stopped on the tracks after an apparent mechanical failure.
On the next day of the accident Iranian Railways chief Mohsen Poor-Seyed Aghaie announced his resignation "as a social responsibility and out of sympathy for the survivors of this accident".
