Alexander Iskandaryan: Azerbaijan cannot figure out what to do in this reality
“Currently all the political forces are already getting ready for the electoral campaign. In spring the political life will revive,” Director of the Caucasus Institute Alexander Iskandaryan told the reporters during today’s press conference.
Turning to the opposition, namely to the formation of possible coalitions, the politician noted that there is no ideological competition in Armenia.
“Generally all the political parties claim the same thing: the ruling party is a bad one and they are good. If they assume the state power, there will allegedly be no corruption, their activities will not depend on tycoons, as they will be fair and will run a good policy. This is not an ideology. The politicians mainly concentrate on social issues, however in such economic conditions the implementation of serious social programs are not realistic,” A. Iskandaryan noted.
He also added that today’s competition is held not between the RPA faction and the opposition parties, but rather within the opposition itself to determine the general opposing party.
Turning to the foreign policy, particularly to the statements made by the Azerbaijani president, A. Iskandaryan said that they indicate that Azerbaijan cannot figure out well what to do in this reality. In his words that statements are mainly addressed to Azerbaijani’s society.
Talking about the formation of a joint troops of the RA and RF, the politician noted that it makes part of the security format being a result of the cooperation between Armenia and Russia.
“In fact that unit began to be formed in 1995 and now it is completed,” he noted.
A. Iskandaryan added that the union cannot directly refer to Nagorno Karabakh as the agreement has been signed between Armenia and Russia, but it is quite clear that the security of Karabakh is ensured by Armenia.
