Union of Armenians in Sweden opens in Göteborg
On 22 November of a new Armenian organization entitled “Union of Armenians in Sweden” was registered in Sweden. Sargis Gasparyan, MP of Western Armenian National Assembly, has been elected President of the newly established organization. As the Press service of the Union of Armenians in Sweden informs the union aims at supporting the development and maintenance of the national culture, language, education and traditions, the cultural, educational, religious, social, legal, economic and informational matters in Sweden, assisting in the final settlement of the issue of the Armenian Genocide, bringing together all the Armenians worldwide to tackle this issue, supporting the process of the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Turks, providing humanitarian assistance to the Armenians in Western Armenia and Middle East, as well as those Armenians who were forced to relocate, supporting the strengthening of peace, friendship and consent between the peoples, etc.
In the coming future the Union of Armenians in Sweden will officially open in Stockholm, capital of the Kingdom of Sweden with the participation of MPs of the Swedish Riksdag (Parliament), political, social, national and religious figures of Sweden, diplomatic corps and mass media, as well as official representatives of the Republic of Western Armenia and the Armenian organizations of Sweden, Europe and the Middle East.
