Foreign ministers of OSCE states highlight the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict
Foreign ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) are meeting in Hamburg for the 23rd Ministerial Council. Apart from questions concerning conflicts in Syria and Ukraine that dominate the agenda, foreign ministers have referred to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict in their addresses.
According to media reports, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who holds the OSCE’s rotating chairmanship this year, said that “the OSCE has become even more important in these times of crisis as an organization to preserve peace and security in Europe”. Among such security threats Steinmeier listed the Karabakh conflict.
Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in his address stated that the commitment to the reached agreements plays a key role in resolving the complicated problems including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State John Kerry in his remarks stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains a cause of concern for the OSCE member countries.
The EU High Representative for Security and Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini expressed hope the arrangements reached during the Vienna and ST. Petersburg Summits would be implemented.
Foreign ministers of Austria, Turkey and number of other states also reflected on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
