Junior & U23 European Weightlifting Championships are underway in Eilat, Israel. At the U20 weightlifting competition the Armenian female representative Sona Poghosyan became European vice champion in the women’s 75 kg weight class. The 18-year-old Armenian athlete lifted 96kg in the snatch and 122kg - in the clean & jerk. Scoring 218kg in the double-event, Poghosyan captured the silver medal.

Meanwhile, Armenia’s men’s representative Samvel Gasparyan competed in the 94kg weight class and conquered a bronze medal in the double-event of 246kg.

To remind, in the U20 tournament Armenia’s representative Davit Hovhannisyan became European champion in the 77kg weight class. In the U23 competition Armenia’s Razmik Oltetsyan won a small silver medal, while Izabella Yalyan competing in the U20 tournament of the women’s 58 kg weight class, won a small bronze medal.
