Lars checkpoint closed with hundreds of Armenian trucks stuck despite official assurances to the contrary
Hundreds of Armenian trucks carrying banana and other imported goods are stuck at the Lars checkpoint unable to enter Armenia. Vahram Mirakyan, representative of Ararat Trans company specialized in Banana imports has posted a video on Facebook showing the trucks standing trapped now at the checkpoint.
“The vehicle has been blocked at the checkpoint for seven days. Media reported yesterday the Lars checkpoint was open for all types of vehicles which is not the case. You may see hundreds of the trucks trapped in the video below,” read the message accompanying the footage posted on Facebook.
Notably, it was reported earlier today the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia informed to the RA Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies that as of 10:00, December 10 Stepantsminda-Lars highway was open for all types of vehicles with antiskid chains.
