Colombian President set to accept Nobel Peace Prize
The Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony will be held today in Oslo. This year’s Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded to Juan Manuel Santos, the president of Colombia, for his "resolute efforts to bring the country's more than 50-year-long civil war to an end.
As Ria Novosti reports, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate arrived in Oslo the day before. The prize amount this year is 8 million Swedish kronor. The President has promised to donate the sum to the families of the victims of the 52-year conflict in his country.
