Open Road Films Production acquires U.S. distribution rights to Armenian Genocide epic “The Promise.”
Open Road Films Production has bought the United States distribution rights to the much anticipated Armenian Genocide epic “The Promise.” Armenians Today (Hayern Aysor) reports about this referring to the post made by film producer Eric Esrailian on his Instagram page.
“Open Road Films Production has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for “The Promise” which is planned to be screened on 28 April 2017. We were keeping this news secret, but it is high time the world knew about this,” the film producer has noted.
Earlier during the interview conducted by Variety Eric Esrailian noted the film has issues regarding its distribution. The producer assumed that the issues are based on the film topic, as it scares away some distributors who have business interests in Turkey.
“The Promise” had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September. The film stars Oscar Issac, Academy Award winning actor Christian Bale, Charlotte Le Bon and Shohreh Aghdashloo.
