Gunman reportedly detained after trying to enter US Embassy in Turkey
A gunman attempting to enter the US embassy in Ankara was stopped by police and has been detained, SPUTNIK news reports citing the Daily Sabah newspaper.
As RT reports, Early Tuesday morning local time, a man armed with a shotgun reportedly tried to enter the US Embassy in Ankara, where a shootout with police occurred. The suspect was taken into custody. The gunman has been named been named as "Sahin S." in the Turkish state press.
Later US Embassy of Turkey has informed in its official page of Twitter that US Embassy in Ankara and Consulates Istanbul and Adana are closed for normal operations today.
The embassy also called on US citizens to avoid area around the embassy until Tuesday.
