Iranian President says the Nagorno Karabakh conflict has no military solution
“Armenia and Azerbaijan are friendly states to us. We look forward to seeing a stable peace in the region to the benefit of the entire region,” the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday at a press statement in Yerevan, following the high-level negotiations held between Armenian and Iranian official delegations.
Hassan Rouhani, on official visit to Armenia, stressed that the Nagorno Karabakh conflict without a doubt has no military solution and expressed a desire to see a negotiated settlement to the conflict.
The Iranian President added at the meeting with the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan they have laid emphasis on security issues in the region.
“Both states have exerted certain efforts for the regional security. We should partner along with all states in this sphere to take efficient measures in combating terrorism,” President Rouhani emphasized.
In Rouhani’s words, Iraq and Syria are nowadays facing core issues of terrorism, and that the humanitarian matters in the region should be addressed on the basis of a consensus to reach productive partnership there as well.
