World Rapid and Blitz Championship kicks off in Doha, Qatar
World Rapid and Blitz Championship has kicked off in Qatar’s capital Doha. A total of 120 chess players participate in the tournament. The favorites are Magnus Carlsen, Maxime Lagrave, Levon Aronian, Sergey Karjakin, Viswanathan Anand, Hikaru Nakamura, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Pavel Elyanov and Vassily Ivanchuk. The participants also feature Svidler, Grischuk, Qiao Lin and Inarkiev. Together with Aronian Armenian GMs Vladimir Akopian and Hrant Melkumyan will also take part in the championship. Manvel Poghosyan, who represents Belarus is also among the participants. Armchess.am reports about this.
On 26-28 December 5 games will be held within the Rapid Championship on a daily basis. The games will begin at 16:00 pm Yerevan time.
