14 films nominated for “Anahit” Armenian Film Awards
Armenian National Film Academy has received 45 submissions for the first Armenian Film Awards “Anahit”, Secretary General at the National Film Academy Raffi Movsisyan told reporters, adding 35 members of the Academy have voted for the best 14 films to compete in 11 main competition categories: Feature, Documentary, Short Film, Animation, Director, Operator, Scriptwriter, Actor, Actress, Composer, Designer.
“Anahit” Film Awards ceremony will take place on December 28 in one of Public Television’s pavilions to be broadcasted the next day at 21:30.
To note, Armenian films created from November 2016 to October 2016, produced by state or private studios as well as joint productions with at least 20 percent of Armenian financing and with a creative staff comprising mostly Armenian citizens can participate in the competition.
The Chairman of Armenian National Film Academy Harutyun Khachatryan, present at the press conference, the Academy has wished to initiate the Film Awards since its establishments, yet they gave a time for self-realization to another “Hayak” Awards, that was organized by National Cinema Center of Armenia.
“Considering the fact, that “Hayak” Awards has not been held for the past two years, the Academy which is tasked with holding awards, came to a decision to proceed with its Anahit Film Awards which is held through open voting,” Khachatryan added.
Council member of the Academy Aneta Yerznkyan on her part pointed out that Awards will create an atmosphere conductive of film production with greater efforts by the film producers to represent their works in the best possible way.
