Davit Gasparyan: Today we face terrible crisis of professionalism
“We should be able to restore human and national dignity in our people and help them to get rid of the psychology of a loser. The character of a former proud Armenian does not exist nowadays as the social status of people is deplorable,” literary critic Davit Gasparyan noted during today’s press conference.
In his words the incidents of the recent years have led to the loss of all kinds of values.
“And we want to seek smiling faces amid this situation. How can you find them? We want to find something noble in interpersonal relationships, however we fail to find it out as the level of the relations has been lowered.
Our people have great inner power ready to manifest itself when the time comes. People’s tolerance is not unlimited and it is necessary to do something for people and only then to demand something in return. People continue serving their country unconditionally without receiving anything good in return. And it is their duty,” the literary critic said adding that it is needed to get the smile back on people’s faces.
D. Gasparyan noted that it is hard for him to see how the Armenian language is distorted in all the spheres.
“We must create quality art and then speak about it. We have reduced everything to the rabiz (low quality) level. Today we face terrible crisis of professionalism. Someone with mediocre abilities is appointed as the supervisor of a professional person, as a result everything is reduced to a mediocre level,” the literary critic noted.
In the words of musician Vahan Artsrouni 2016 was a year of impulses regarding the political sphere. “The messages addressed to the society by the ruling elite were quite comprehensible,” he said.
He noted that as an artist he has observed segmentation in the cultural sphere.
Filmmaker Hrant Vardanyan, who also attended the press conference, noted the primary reason of establishing a state is that state must protect its culture and the identity of its people.
“States are established only for this reason. However when today budgetary allocations to the sphere of culture only make up 2-3 percent…The thing is not that the state must provide funds to the state, but rather it should increase the quality of culture,” the filmmaker said adding that the culture cannot depend on one person only, namely on the minister of culture. A strategy should be worked out and systemic changes are to be made.
H. Vardanyan noted that today more attentions is to be drawn to our children and youth. Quality education and interaction with high art must be available to them.
