Hovhannes Poghosyan seriously wounded in Artsakh in May welcomes New Year at home
Armenian serviceman Hovhannes Poghosyan, who was seriously wounded in Artsakh on 13 May, has welcomed the New Year at home surrounded with his relatives and friends.
You should know Poghosyan well, as after receiving injuries during April war he recovered a little and went back to the military posts.
“My son is in a good mood and has happily welcomed the New Year,” Hovhannes’ mother Gayane Asatryan has told the correspondent of Panorama.am.
“Hovhannes has only one wish: peace for our country. He wishes our servicemen hope and courage, and so that they return to their homes after successfully fulfilling their service,” Mrs. Gayane said citing his son’s New Year wishes.
In her words his son received rehabilitation treatment at Armenian Red Cross Health Centre, came home on 23 December and will continue his treatment after the holidays.
According to Gayane Asatryan, in general some positive changes have been observed in his son’s health condition. Now he is able to move his leg but cannot move his right hand.
“I am very thankful to the doctors of the Red Cross, as they do their best to register some progress. After the holidays Hovhannes is going to continue his rehabilitation treatment with doctor David Arsenyan,” Gayane Asatryan noted adding that the treatment of her son will take a long time.
“We still have a long way to go, but we do not lose our hope, Hovhannes is optimistic and also conducts some exercises at home in order to get well soon. There is nothing more significant for me then the fact that he overcame that difficult situation and is currently with us,” Mrs. Gayane said.
Hovhannes’s mother wishes that the tragedy of 2016 never happened again.
To note, Hovhannes Poghosyan, who was born in 1995, received his second injury on 13 May. He received a heavy injury in his cerebrum, a fracture in his brain and other fractures. The serviceman was transferred to the hospital in Martakert where he underwent surgery. Afterwards he was transferred to the hospital in Stepanakert and later to Yerevan.
The doctors noted that he had zero percent chance of survival. He was in a coma for a long time and only 36 days later was he transferred from the reanimation department to the ward.
