Festive march to Liberty Square planned on Christmas Day in Yerevan
Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra organizes annual festival commemorating of the birth of Jesus Christ cerebrated on January 6 in Armenia. According to the release, the event is aimed at restoring and popularizing the traditional ritual of the Christmas Day.
The march will start at 03:00 PM from the Philharmonic Orchestra (Abovyan St. 2) accompanied by dances and songs and move to the Liberty Square, where participants will hold the Christmas traditional celebration.
Decoration of Kenats Tsar (the traditional Armenian Christmas tree known as a tree of life decorated with dried fruit, raisins and seeds), New Year prayers and blessings, ritual games, songs and dances are among the planned events.
According to the release, “Tonacuyc” People’s Theater as well as “Masunk” National Dance Ensemble will participate in the celebration to present the traditions through their performances.
