Hot waves actively sweep across the territory of Armenia, Surenyan says
“No significant changes in the weather conditions are expected in the coming days. The current temperature will not change for the coming 5 days,” Deputy Head of “Hydromet” Service Meteorological Center of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations Gagik Surenyan informed Panorama.am about this.
In his words an active inflow of hot air masses into the territory of Armenia has been registered, however it does not refer to the Ararat Valley.
“The hot air masses fail to penetrate into the Ararat Valley, as bypassing it above they sweep across the regions. Currently high temperature is registered in all the regions, for instance +15 °C has been recorded in Syunik valleys, 14-15 °C in Tavush Province and +4 °C has been registered in such mountainous districts as Hrazdan, Jermuk, Martuni, Shorzha, Vardenis and Gavar,” he noted.
A facebook post made by Surenyan earlier noted that -10 °C is registered both on the summit of Mount Aragats and in Yerevan.
Turning to the claims that fog can be dispersed due to anti-hail stations or that the fog has been formed because few factories currently operate in the republic, Surenyan considered them nonsense and groundless.
“On the contrary, the factories make the fog become thicker as they emit gas and smoke into the atmosphere. They contribute to the condensation. In this respect the effectiveness of human intervention is ruled out,” the expert explained.
According to him this is not a local phenomenon, as in addition to Ararat Valley it is also observed in Nakhchivan.
Deputy Head of “Hydromet” Service has also posted a satellite photo showing the fog observed in Ararat Valley.
