Post-holiday stress and tips to cope with it
“Post-holiday stress is a serious phenomenon. Doctors have a special term for this phenomenon called a post-holyday syndrome,” Psychologist Elona Avetyan noted this during the interview conducted by Panorama.am.
In her words people should mentally prepare themselves to go back to work after long-lasting holidays. “If they spend the holiday away from home, we recommend them to return to home one or two days earlier, so as they manage to get ready for work in the home atmosphere. It is not advised to have the brain completely rest and to cut away from everything during the holidays. We recommend people to read books, solve crosswords or to engage in sports. It is advised to check in inboxes and to mark the important emails, to accurately estimate the working priorities and to keep in touch with the colleagues. It would be great if the employers and the head of organizations were aware of that syndrome and in advance announced that the employees could come to work at the usual time but could start working after having 30-minute rest and could finish the work two hours earlier,” she added.
According to the psychologist, in this way the workers integrate into the labor process more easily.
As for the mothers with babies the expert noted that the psychologists recommend mothers not to work before their children turn to three years, as before the child turns three mother and baby remain connected psychologically.
“If a mother determines to go to work she should play role games with her baby to prepare it to engage in the activities while she is at work. The child must be warned in advance. There are mothers who are afraid that their children catch them while leaving the house. It is more stressful and the best option is preparing the children,” Elona Avetyan added.
