Giving thanks makes people more inclined to optimism, psychologist Lilit Khachatryan says
"“Thank you” is one of those words that provides mental harmony. It also makes people more inclined to optimism,” today, on the International Thank You Day, psychologist Lilit Khachatryan expressed such an opinion during the interview conducted by Panorama.am.
“If a person is able to see and appreciate the good things in life, he always says “thank you” thus expressing his gratitude towards the world. A pessimist randomly feels thankful,” the psychologist noted.
Taking into account the Armenian ethnos Lilit Khachatryan noted that our nation is not very good at expressing gratitude. “For years we have considered ourselves a persecuted ethnic group, which has developed a victim psychology among our people. And thankfulness as a cultural element has not been well developed due to the political, social and economic conditions the Armenian people had to face,” she added.
In order to raise an optimistic, healthy child who can live in harmony with the world, the psychologist recommends the parents to teach him/her to be grateful from the early childhood, so as the children “express gratitude for all those people who love them, for their parents, for visiting this or that place and welcoming guests at home.”
At the end of each day we just should be thankfulness for what we have.
