Drug smuggling attempts prevailed in last three months of 2016, Armenia’s SRC reports
The Preclearance control and anti-smuggling task force and double customs control departments of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia jointly revealed 46 cases of customs rules violations in the period from October to December 2016, Panorama.am reports referring to the Information and Public Relations Department of the committee.
As the source reports the statistics indicate that the attempts of smuggling narcotics and psychotropic drugs into Armenia prevailed in the last quarter of the previous year. In the 11 registered cases the citizens have applied different tricks to override the customs control mainly using postal services.
A number of attempts of drug smuggling from Georgia into Armenia have also been prevented. In addition to this during the above mentioned period attempts of smuggling 267 mobile phones of different models, as well as food, jewelry, medical equipment and other items have also been registered.
