NKR Parliament to put amended draft constitution to referendum
During today’s extraordinary session convened in the National Assembly of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic the parliamentarians voted to put the amended eversion of the draft constitution to referendum, Panorama.am reports.
“Dear Artsakh people, the National Assembly decided to put the revised draft constitution up to voting with 20 votes in favor, 7 against and 1 abstaining. “Dashnaktsutyun” and “Renaissance” factions have voted against, “Free Homeland” and “Democracy” have voted in favor and “Movement-88” has abstained,” NKR MP Hayk Khanumyan noted.
Notably on 16 January Chairman of the NKR National Assembly Ashot Ghoulyan signed a decision on convening an extraordinary session. Resuming the discussions on the constitutional amendments was to be included in the agenda of the extraordinary session initiated by the MPs. The discussions were halted during the NA plenary session held on 29 December 2016.
