Vardges Sureniants’s house put up for sale in Akhaltsikhe
The house of prominent Armenian painter and sculptor Vardges Sureniants is put on sale in Georgia’s Akhaltsikhe. As akhaltskha.net reports, the owner of the house said the house has preserved its original form and no renovations works were conducted with a view to find people who would wish to buy and turn the residence into a house-museum.
The house comprising five rooms and an adjacent garden is priced at $90,000
In 2009 a memorial plaque was unveiled on the wall of the house to honor the prominent artist.
Vardges Sureniants was born in Akhaltsikhe in the family of a priest. Sureniants had an opportunity to study at the prestigious Armenian Lazarian School located in Moscow where the family moved later, then furthered his education at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. Sureniants studied architecture at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, receiving more education in painting. Throughout his life and career he has created abroads, yet his paintings carry and symbolize the close bonds, emotions and thoughts he cherished toward his native Armenian people.
