Armenia sees 0.5% rise in economic activity in 2016
According to the indicators of the socio-economic situation released by Armenia’s National Statistical Service Armenia’s economic activity index for January-December 2016 increased by 0.5 percent to compare with the index of the same period of the previous year. As the NSS reports, the index rose by 17.9 percent in December 2016 compared with November of the same year, Panorama.am reports.
According to the NSS data the volume of the industrial production increased by 6.7% in January-December.
As for the agriculture sphere the gross agricultural output dropped by 5.2% during January-December 2016 to compare with the same period of 2015.
In January-December Armenia saw 6.2 percent decrease in electricity production sphere and 10.8 percent decrease in the construction sphere.
Turning to the trade turnover January-December period saw 1% increase in the field and 46.4 percent increase was registered in December to compare with November 2016.
According to the data of Armenia’s NSS in the period of January-December 2016 the consumer prices fell by 1.4 percent, while on a monthly basis the prices rose by 1.1 percent in December compared to November 2016.
The NSS indicators show that the trade between Armenia and its partner countries has activated. During 2016 Armenia’s external trade turnover volume totaled to 5 billion 75.3 million USD which indicates 7.4 percent rise compared to 2015.
The average monthly salary of Armenia increased by 1.7 percent in January-December 2016. However in the public sector the average salary decreased by 1.8 percent making up 161 thousand 872 drams. As for the private sector the salary increased by 4.6 percent totaling to 221 thousand AMD.
