Military doctor: The April war made me hate the adversary even more
During the April war Senior Lieutenant of Medical Service Ara Mirakyan was in the frontline taking the wounded Armenian servicemen away from the battlefield under the intense fire, providing medical aid and saving many lives. On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Army Senior Lieutenant of Medical Service Ara Mirakyan was awarded with "For Service in Battle" medal for devotion shown while fulfilling his military duty and for the efficient professional activity. Panorama.am reports.
After received his awards at the Presidential Palace he was reluctant to talk about those days during the interview with the reporters. “Every time I remember those day I end up in a depression. It was a bloody, horrible scene which haunted me for a few days. The war made me hate the adversary even more,” he added.
In the words of the doctor when working you are afraid of anything and do not feel that you might die.
“When you make it back to the aid station, you begin realizing where you have been. You always think that you could have gone there five minutes earlier and could have done more,” Senior Lieutenant Mirakyan notes.
Asked how his family feels about his service he noted the following: “In those days my mother called me to know where I was. And in order to comfort her I said that I came back from the frontline to Mataghis, however actually I was in the frontline at that time. She told me to go back to the frontline and promised that she would join me soon, as she took pity on our young servicemen. So she was trying to encourage me.”
