French Ambassador happy over Armenia’s ratification of the Paris Agreement
French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-François Charpentier has issued a statement welcoming the ratification of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change by the country’s parliament.
“I am happy that the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia overwhelmingly ratified the Paris Agreement. The ratification comes to evidence Armenia’s commitment to implement the agreement and combat the climate change which is aimed at sustainable and inclusive development,” read the statement of the Ambassador.
Earlier the National Assembly ratified the Paris Agreement with 93 votes in favor, 6 deputies didn’t participate in the voting.
To remind, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian signed the Paris Agreement on behalf of Armenia on September 20, 2016 at the UN Headquarter. The Agreement was adopted in the result of Climate Change Conference held in Paris under the aegis of the United Nations. The document outlines a series of steps of the international community aimed at confronting global warming.
