ARF to take part in the parliamentary elections with own list
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF/Dashnaktsutyun) refuses to enter political blocs ahead of the April 2 Parliamentary Elections and is set to participate in the elections separately, with their own list, Armen Rustamyan, head of the ARF fraction at National Assembly told reporters on Friday.
Rustamyan informed the party rating lists are currently finalized with candidates under the rating system represented in all electoral areas.
“ARF has participated in numerous elections thus far, and we have certain estimates about the votes we possess in the areas. There are people in places who apart from being ARF members have proved their dedication to our ideas and programs for years,” Rustamyan said, adding the party has its own stable and ideological electorate.
“We need that stability today which is something others lack. The stability provides us with opportunity to compose our list, relying on our electorate, maintaining and multiplying it,” noted Rustamyan, adding the party list will include not only party members but also non-partisan supporters.
Rustamyan expressed pessimism over the possibility of the second round of elections, replying to question said he whether he sees the possibility of a coalition with the ruling RPA party in case a second round of elections proves necessary.
“I believe in the new quality of the forthcoming elections and no one may gain majority alone, yet I do not rule out the possibility of forming a coalition after the first round and form a coalition cabinet in line with the Law on Elections. This appears to be the most feasible development,” Rustamyan said.
