Works by Haro Stepanyan digitalized ahead of the 9th Armenian Composers’ Art Festival
This year the 9th Armenian Composers’ Art Festival is dedicated to the 120th anniversary of Armenian composer Haro Stepanyan - a talented and unique composer, who greatly contributed to the development of the Armenian music culture. He has authored five operas, three symphonies, numerous songs romances, chamber instrumental works.
“This appears to be an excellent initiative, since we are obliged to honor our talented artists. The main purpose of the event is the promotion of Armenian national music, the record, filming of the great works of Armenian chamber and symphonic works as well as digitalization and maintaining them for the coming generations,” Composer Vardan Achemyan told at a press conference ahead of the launch of the festival.
the Head of Contemporary Art of RA Ministry of Culture Armenuhi Ghazaryan, present at the press conference, informed that works of Haro Stepanyan have been digitalized, expressing her gratitude to the Youth Orchestra of Armenia for the undertaking.
Coordinator of the Artistic issues at the festival Sargis Balbabyan noted that within the frames of the festival five concerts are planned featuring two symphonic and three chamber music evenings. The fest will take pace in Yerevan on February 15-28 “Along with Haro Stepanyan’s, works of modern composers both from Armenia and Diaspora will be performed,” Balbabyan said.
The Artistic Director of the Armenian Composers’ Art Festival is Sergey Smbatyan. The festival is being held with the support of the Ministry of Culture under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Armenia. Over the course of the past seven years symphonic and chamber works of more than 50 Armenian composers have been digitalized, 200 works have been recorded with some 150 works premiered in the scope of the festival.
