Armenian chess players see early elimination at Women’s World Chess Championship in Tehran
The second games of the round first of the Women’s World Chess Championship in Tehran took place on Sunday with two Armenian representatives – Elina Danielyan and Lilit Mkrtchyan - suffering surprise defeats. As the country’s chess federation reports, despite having better individual rankings, the Armenians suffered defeats from Padmini Rout of India and Ni Shiqun of China respectively and were eliminated from the tournament.
To note the Women’s World Championship 2017 is played from February 10 to March 5 in Tehran.
