The Turkish online shopping website Sahibinden.com has put up for sale an oud (musical instrument) made by famous Armenian craftsman Grigor Kehyayan, Panorama.am reports referring to Ermenihaber.
The sale announcement does not mention the name of the seller. However it specifies that the instrument is 100 years old and is located in Istanbul. The oud is offered for $10.000.
The source reports that in addition to the photo of the oud, the trade announcement also features certificates in Ottoman Turkish and Armenian, which come to prove that it was made by the Istanbul-Armenian master.
It is noted that Grigor Kehyayan was born in Istanbul, 1875 and passed away in 1933. He lived in Istanbul’s Skyutar district. Kehyayan inherited carpenter’s craft from his father, later on specialising in oud making.
