Son of the Former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian was arrested on February 17 and suspected in participating a group kidnapping of a person and threating of using violence.

As the Investigative Committee of Armenia reports on the base of the obtained preliminary evidence, on February 16 at around 17:00 H Siradaryan and his nephew A. Oskanian have forced citizen N. Berberyan into a car near the “Roberto” Store on Leningradyan Avenue in Yerevan, have driven to Abovyan town against his will, have illegally deprived him of freedom, demanding to pay the debt of 1.500.000 AMD under threats of using violence dangerous for his health. 

According to the source, H Siradaryan and A. Oskanian were arrested on February 17 and suspected in committing a crime, according to the Point 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 131 of RA Criminal Code (illegal deprivation of freedom not concerned with kidnapping committed: by a group with prior agreement and using dangerous violence or threat of using violence) The source says H Siradaryan and A. Oskanian have refused to testify.

The Committee release reads that investigative measures are taken to find out all the circumstance of the incident to ensure a comprehensive, full and objective examination to be updated further. 

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
