GM Aronian to compete with Evgeny Tomashevsky in Sharjah Grand Prix 2017
The opening ceremony and the drawing of lots of FIDE World Chess Sharjah Grand Prix took place. According to the drawing results, Armenian GM Levon Aronian will play against Evgeny Tomashevsky from Russia with black pieces, Chess-Results.com reports.
To note, 18 chess players are taking part in the tournament. Sharjah Grand Prix will be held in Swiss system. 9 rounds are set to take place. The championship features a total of 4 tournaments, three of which will be held in Moscow, Geneva and Palma de Mallorca.
Top two players of the Sharjah Grand Prix 2017 will qualify for the Candidates Matches.
