Iran stage military drills in defiance of US sanctions
The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force started the first phase of a large-scale military exercise in Dasht-e Kavir in central Iran, the local Tasnim Agency reported.
According to the source, various units of the IRGC Ground Force have participated in the military drills, including the artillery, air defense, drone, infantry and air force units.
Earlier on Saturday, Commander of the IRGC Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour had announced that the military drills will be staged in two phases, adding that advanced rockets will be test-fired during the war game in central parts of the country as well.
To remind, in early February, Iran conducted drills involving short-range missiles at a time of heightened tensions with the United States.
The Islamic republic said the exercises were aimed at demonstrating Iran’s “complete preparedness to deal with the threats” and “humiliating sanctions” from Washington.
