U.S. and Canadian observers see Artsakh Constitutional Referendum in line with international Standards
The Constitutional Referendum held in the Republic of Artsakh on February 20 was in line with international standards, representatives of the US and Canadian observation missions monitoring the elections told reporters on Tuesday while presenting the preliminary findings and conclusions of their mission. The observers noted with satisfaction that Artsakh had taken into account the recommendations issued during previous election processes and improved the overall conduct of the vote.
“Absolute dedication was prevailing among the population in Artsakh, as people actively participated in the vote. This is something we can take from Artsakh,” Andreas Borgeas, California’s Fresno County Supervisor (US) stressed.
Jim Karygiannis, member of Toronto City Council (Canada) said she admired the conduct of the referendum. “As you know we award Oscars and Grammies, so Artsakh would have definitely won an Oscar had we had envisaged a prize for elections. Moreover, not only the organizers of the elections, but also the Artsakh people should have won that award for its active participation in the vote. We are taking lessons from you,” concluded the Canadian observer.
