Aeroflot Open: Sergei Movsesian claims victory in Round 1
Aeroflot Open chess tournament kicked off in Moscow yesterday.
As usual, there are many participants from Armenia in the tournament. Member of Armenian Men National Chess Team GM Sergei Movsesian, World and Europe U18 champion Manuel Petrosyan, World U16 champion Haik Martirosian and IM Tigran Harutyunian will play in the A section of the festival. In total, there are 98 players in A section. 73 of them hold title of GM. 21 hold title of IM and 2 of them hold title of FM.
As chessfed.am reports, in the first round of the tournament, Sergei Movsesian defeated Ghaem Maghami of Iran, Tigran Harutyunian held a draw against Evgeny Alekseev of Russia. Manuel Petrosyan and Haik Martirosyan lost their games.
In section B Armenia has 14 delegates. In round 1 GM Tigran Kotanjian, IM Arman Mikayelyan, FM Aram Hakobyan and Mamikon Gharibyan defeated their opponents.
In section C Armenia has 4 representatives. 2 of them - Azat Tavakalyan and Artur Gharagyozyan celebrated victories. Vahe Danielyan and Arpine Grigoryan made draws.
