Azerbaijani Prosecutor’s Office opens criminal case against MEPs for visiting Artsakh
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan has launched criminal cases against a group of foreigners. The Azerbaijani media outlets informs about this noting that they are accused of visiting Artsakh.
The Prosecutor's Office has submitted request to Interpol for their announcement on the international wanted list.
The wanted list includes both foreign scientists and researchers and political scientists. Criminal cases have been launched against Members of the European Parliament (MEP) Frank Engel (Luxembourg), Eleni Teoharus (Cyprus) and Jaromír Štětina (Czech Republic).
The MEPs conducted observation mission during the Nagorno Karabakh Constitutional Referendum.
To note, during the press conference held in Stepanakert, MEP Frank Engel noted the following when speaking about the possibility of ending up in the Azerbaijani blacklist: “If I am somehow included in that list, it will not prevent me from visiting Artsakh.”
