Women’s World Chess Championship: Players continue competing for the chess crown
The Semifinal matches of the Women’s World Chess Championship took place in Tehran, Iran. All the games ended in victories. Tan Zhongyi gained a slight advantage in the middle of the game and gradually increasing it, made her opponent Harika Dronavalli resign on 43 move, chessfed.am reports.
The rest of the semifinal games were more interesting and dramatic. Alexandra Kosteniuk got a position with a pawn up on 19 move in her match against Anna Muzychuk. After move 40 when the players received 30 minutes of playing time, Kosteniuk failed to find a proper continuation. She made a gross mistake on move 56 and had to resign after a few moves.
In the second games of semifinal Dronavalli and Kosteniuk will do their best to claim a victory.
