Armenian skiers take part in World Ski Championships
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 has kicked off in Finland. Five athletes represent Armenia in the championship - Sergey Mikayelyan, Mikayel Mikayelyan, Tadevos Poghosyan, Katya Galstyan and Anna Mkhitaryan, the National Olympic Committee of Armenia informs about this.
In the men’s championship, Tadevos Poghosyan took the 11th place in the qualifying stage of the 10km classic style and made it to the next round. In the 5km classic style of the women’s championship Katya Galstyan held the 7th position. She also overcame the stage and Anna Mkhitaryan was dropped out of the race taking the 15th place.
Due to their high ranks, Armenian skiers Sergey and Mikayel will join the race in the major tournament. In the speed skiing the Armenian skiers failed to overcome the qualifying stage. In the men’s racing Mikayel Mikayelyan held the 96th place. Katya Galstyan took the 80th position and Anna Mkhitaryan finished 83rd.
