In Paris, Armenian youth organizes protest against Azerbaijani propaganda lies
In the capital of France, a concert was organized by Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at the dissemination of misleading information about Aghdam events and the Karabakh conflict, statement of “Nazarbek” Youth Union of the Social Democrat Hunchakian Party reads.
“Nazarbek” along with other youth unions held a protest in Paris against the Azerbaijani propaganda lies.
The members of the union noted that they did not understand how France known for its democratic values could accept such an event. In their opinion, it is necessary to fight against Azerbaijan’s monopolistic, racist, and fascist regime.
“It is not a secret that Azerbaijan is an authoritarian country, which has been governed by the Aliyev clan for several decades and where the president, despot Ilham Aliyev, has recently appointed his wife as vice president,” the statement of the union reads.
It is highlighted that the Azerbaijani lobby tries to present the Armenians as “murderers” in order to justify its aggression on the contact line between the Azerbaijani and Karabakh forces.
Besides, the number of churches is gradually reducing in the country. Destruction of Armenian khachkars in Baku and Nakhijevan proves Azerbaijan’s “tolerance.”
This is not the first case, when “Nazarbek” union disturbs Azerbaijan’s propagandistic events in France. For example, in 2015, the European Azerbaijan Society (TEAS) attempted to hold an event dedicated to the 23rd anniversary of 1992 Aghdam events in Aydar theatre in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. Representatives of “Nazarbek” union having protested against distortions of the history by Azerbaijan also informed people about the violations of human rights and freedom of expression in the country on the example of the arrested human right defenders.
Besides, in 2013, “Nazarbek” organized an event aimed at informing the society about the falsifications of the Azerbaijani propaganda. In Montmartre – one of the tourist centers of Paris – they gave out booklets and leaflets, which reflected the reality about the 1992 Aghdam events called “Khojaly events” by the Azerbaijani side.
On February 26, 1992, during the Karabakh war, around 200 to 300 people (according to Human Rights Watch, and 600 according to the version propagated by Azerbaijan) were killed in unknown circumstances near the city of Aghdam. They were deliberately withheld by the Azerbaijani authorities in the midst of the military actions. The authorities of Azerbaijan intentionally kept the population in the village for months by force and did not evacuate them in order to use them as human shields later as the village was one of the firing points for shooting at the blockaded Stepanakert (among five others).
The residents of Khojaly, coming out through the humanitarian corridor the self-defense forces of the NKR had left open, freely passed more than 10 km and reached the Aghdam city controlled by the Azerbaijani troops. Later, dead bodies of the villagers were foundnot far from the positions of Azerbaijani troops. The exact death toll remains unknown as the official Baku publishes data contradicting each other. Parliamentary Commission investigating the tragic death of the civilians at Aghdam city was dissolved by the order of Heydar Aliyev, the investigative materials are kept secret.
