Protest staged in Tbilisi against Azerbaijani actions
Members of the Armenian Community of Georgia organized a protest on Monday in Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. According to the report by jnews.ge, the protesters gathered in front of the Georgian Parliament then marched to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, protesting against the actions of neighboring Azerbaijan inciting hatred among the local population and interfering into the Georgian politics.
As reported earlier, a group of Azeri activists arrived from Azerbaijan organized a flashmob on Rustavi Avenue on February 25, disseminating booklets about the so-called Khojaly events.
The Head of the Armenian Community of Georgia Samvel Mkrtchyan has called on the Georgian state to prevent any attempt of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi to interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia and incite hatred among the Armenian and Azeri citizens of Georgia in its territory.
Mkrtchyan stressed that propaganda events are backed by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Tbilisi including through financial means. The protesters indicated that the Georgian leadership endangers the country’s security, democracy and the future, turning a blind eye to those actions
The protesters have handed over a letter with their concerns to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
