Ferry freight seen as real alternative for Armenia, the minister says
RA Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Vahan Martirosyan has commented on the results of the Armenia’s PM Karen Karapetyan’s recent visit to Georgia. At a briefing with journalist, Minister Martirosyan noted discussions are underway regarding the alternative route to Lars.
“At the meeting with the representatives of the Armenian community the Prime Minister noted that alternative routes to Lars would be established. However, I call on you not to focus on merely the Abkhaz railway or the road through Ossetia. Ferry freight is another alternative which appears to be a feasible one,” Martirosyan stressed.
In his words, freight forwarding by ferry through the Black Sea operates on regular basis – three times in a month. The minister went on saying Armenia had been provided with benefits, while the issue was discussed with regard to railway forwarding as well.
“We need long time to gain results and let us keep hoping the results will come soon,” the minister said.
