The U.S. will continue to actively support the peaceful settlement of the NKR conflict – U.S. Secretary of State
Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian held on March 3 a phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. As the Press, Information and Public Relations Department of Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports, Armenia’s FM congratulated his US interlocutor on assuming the post and expressed conviction that the a quarter-century long Armenian-American relations and the current high-level friendly cooperation will further be taken to a new level due to their joint efforts.
Tillerson, in turn, underscored that the U.S. administration values the close and strong relations between the two countries and is committed to proceed the joint work aimed at their further strengthening.
During the phone conversation, the U.S. and Armenian officials touched upon numerous issues of the rich bilateral agenda, expansion of trade and economic cooperation, as well as a series of urgent regional and international topics.
The U.S. Secretary of State expressed gratitude for the significant contribution of Armenia in the international peacekeeping operations. Rex Tillerson highly appreciated the fact that the Armenian Government provided shelters for tens of thousands of Syrian refugees.
Edward Nalbandian and Rex Tillerson exchanged views on possible steps aimed at advancing the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Armenia’s FM briefed Tillerson on the recent developments in the conflict zone. In this context, the need to implement agreements reached during the Vienna and Saint Petersburg summits held in the last year was underscored during the conversation.
U.S. Secretary of State reassured that the United States will continue to actively support the peaceful settlement of the NKR conflict.
