Armenian, Iranian officials discuss custom regulations at Meghri-Norduz border gate
Heads of Armenia’s Meghri and Iranian Norduz customs checkpoints held a regular meeting on Monday to discuss the implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Chairman of the RA State Revenue Committee Vardan Harutyunyan and the President of the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Karbasian on November 17, 2016.
As the State Revenue Committee of Armenia reports in a release, the parties discussed matters related to the quality service of the passenger vehicle flow to and from Iran expected in March ahead of Novruz Holiday. The parties reflected specifically on issues of the fees levied from vehicles entering the Republic of Armenia and going to Iran, with the sides reaching an arrangement to address the issues in strict deadlines.
To remind, the memorandum of understanding regulates matters of electronic information sharing between the two sides as well as cooperation through the customs inspection technologies equipment modernization program.
The peculiarity of the new equipment is the mobility which allows to use the system in different zones when required including customs checkpoints, warehouses and other places. The equipment enables the quick and precise checking, prevention and finding of explosives, weapons, medicine and other smuggled goods.
