Erdogan says that Germany’s policies haven’t changed since Nazi period
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan harshly criticized Germany on Sunday for blocking rallies in support of the Yes campaign for the 2017 Turkish constitutional referendum.
The Jerusalem Online reported, the referendum is set to be held in next month. Erdoğan is leading the Yes campaign for the referendum, which will award him more power as president and abolish the position of prime minister.
Speaking at a women’s rally in Istanbul, Erdoğan said that the German authorities’ decision to prevent Turkish officials from speaking at rallies ahead of the referendum resembles Nazi policies. As reported last week by JOL, a member of Erdoğan’s ruling party was scheduled to appear at a rally in Gaggenau. However, the authorities in Gaggenau canceled the event shortly before it was scheduled to take place.
To remind, the relations between Turkey and Germany declined recently after a German journalist who holds Turkish citizenship was arrested in Istanbul and charged with terrorism-related crimes.
