Russia intends to continue its mediation mission for Karabakh conflict settlement – Maria Zakharova
Russia intends to continue its mediation mission for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in cooperation with the other Co-Chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group. Spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) Maria Zakharova announced the aforesaid during today’s briefing. The official website of Russia’s Foreign Ministry told Panorama.am.
“Russia intends to continue the process of the [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict settlement in cooperation with the Co-Chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group on the basis of the provisions prescribed by five joint statements released by the presidents of Russia, the US and France. The statements particularly point the impermissibility of a military solution to the Karabakh conflict. They call on the President of Armenia and Azerbaijan to settle the issue based on the exclusion of use of force or threat of force, maintenance of territorial integrity of states and the rights of the nations to self-determination,” Zakharova reminded.
Russia’s MFA Spokeswoman also noted that in parallel with the approaches agreed with the Co-Chairing states, Russia will continue to make its own efforts (for the settlement of the NKR conflict) given Russia’s especially close relations with Armenia and Azerbaijan, which allow exchanging sincere views on key issues.
