FM Nalbandian: Armenia open to normalize relations with Turkey
Armenia has always been open to normalize relations, including with Turkey, without any preconditions, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian stated on Friday during at the joint press conference with the Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotsias in Yerevan.
Asked how the minister assesses the possibility for improving relations with Turkey, Nalbandian said “One day Turkey will come to the approach of Armenia to respect the agreements that are reached with other states.”
Minister Nalbandian next reminded of the numerous steps Armenia had taken while seeking to normalize the relations with Ankara with Armenia’s President initiative, yet Turkey was the side that stepped back.
The minister referred to the Armenian-Turkish Protocols [On establishing of diplomatic relations as well as Development of relations between the Republic of Turkey and The Republic of Armenia,] that were signed, yet Turkey refused to ratify them.
