Minsk Group Co-Chairs hope to organize meeting between Armenian, Azerbaijani presidents
The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs believe there is no military solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and the conflict sides should return to the negotiation table at the highest level, the US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Richard Hoagland has told a press conference on Saturday, according to TASS agency.
“Today, our activity is focused on organizing a high-level meeting,” the diplomat has stressed.
French Co-Chair Stéphane Visconti has assured that France, Russia, and the United Stated will continue to exert joint efforts for the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.
“For sure, the matter is quite complex. As you know tensions are still observed on the Line of Contact, however, the process continues, moved on from the dead point with parties wishing to make a progress,” Stéphane Visconti has noted.
He has also informed about the upcoming meeting between the President of Azerbaijan and the French President François Hollande on March 14 in Paris where the interlocutors are expected to discuss the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
Meanwhile, Russian Co-Chair of the Minsk Group Igor Popov has called for the implementation of the agreements reached during the Vienna and St. Petersburg meetings attended by presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“The Vienna and St. Petersburg agreements should be implemented,” Popov has said, referring to the confidence building measures, specifically, the introduction of the investigation mechanisms into the ceasefire violation incidents.
