Armenian political scientist comments on the importance of President Sargsyan’s visit to Russia
“The visit of the [Armenian] republic’s president to the Russian Federation was highly significant and expected both in terms of the content of the meetings, the statements and the highlights made during the visit,” political scientist Sergey Minasyan said during today’s press conference turning to President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit paid to Russia.
“Certainly some concrete agreements have been reached during the visit on both military-political and economic blocs, that are subject to constant negotiations. In addition to that, the joints statements of the two presidents can be considered a concrete result, where all the issues have clearly been highlighted,” the expert noted.
In particular, he singled out the fifth point of those statements. “It notes that the sides will continue the bilateral cooperation and one of the most important highlights is that it clearly mentions the provision of regional and international security,” he added.
In the words of Minasyan, the analysts and politicians did not neglect the fact that Putin specifically talked about the elections in Armenia (Parliamentary elections set on April 2).
“In addition to the statements regarding the political sphere, the agreements and talks over the economic and investment fields are also significant,” he said.
The political scientist underscored the fact that attention should be paid to the matters that were not touched upon during the meeting.
“No negative observations were made on Armenia-EU relations. Moreover, we can come across some episodes in the joint statements and during the private press conferences that state the fact that the sides will continues the cooperation in different European and international platforms,” Sergey Minasyan added.
