Cabinet adopted state program of leasing agricultural machinery
Armenian government adopted on Thursday the state support program of leasing agricultural machinery. Minister of Agriculture Ignati Arakelyan noted the main goal of the program is providing agricultural machinery and equipment to farmers on affordable conditions through a state-supported leasing.
Armenian Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan informed, that the ultimate challenge ahead of the Ministry of Agriculture remains to create maximal modern environment for agriculture development.
“We should clearly realize we may not record good results in the sector unless we introduce new technologies and significant refreshments into the sphere,” the PM said, adding the depending on the demand of the obtained equipment, the number of the beneficiaries will be expanded through additional means.
According to the justification of the draft program, around 90 per cent of the Armenia’s agricultural machinery have been in used for 20 years exceeding the amortization period. Most of the equipment is old and needs renovations. Added to this the cost of the technical service that results in higher costs for the service and keeping the machinery up to date.
