Richard Clayderman promises to make a gift to the Armenian audience
Renowned French pianist, composer and performer of classic and ethnic music Richard Clayderman is happy to visit Armenia for the second time. As the musician told at a press conference on Friday, first time he visited Yerevan in 2015
To note, Clayderman will perform a concert at Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan on March 18. Speaking to reporters, the Frenchman said the upcoming concert program will differ from the previous, noting with regret he couldn’t include Armenian songs in the program.
“I hope much to come up with piano improvisations of some Armenian music pieces during my next visit. That would be a gift to the Armenian audience and the country,” the pianist said.
“I started my professional career with classical music receiving the relevant education. Over the time, I performed for different dance groups and gradually geared toward the popular music. The shift has been quite natural though. It might be because I saw no perspective of making professional career of a classical musician and turned to the kind of the music I like most. I think the decision was right since it gave me an opportunity to tour around the world,” Clayderman said, when asked to comment on his shift to the commercial sphere of activity.
At a reporter’s remark what is the secret of his happiness, Clayderman replied: “My happiness is in my love toward the music, the piano that helped me to stay engaged with a beloved work for 38 years.”
At the end of the press conference, the pianist performed a piece, saying it was his first experience to play during a press conference.
