Varuzhan Hakobyan and Tatev Abrahamyan to participate in the 2017 U.S. Championship
The 2017 U.S. Championship will kick off on March 29 at Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis. The tournament is an elite competition, featuring 12 of the strongest chess players in America. As the Chess Federation of Armenia reports, Wesley So, Hikaru Nakamura and Fabiano Caruana who are the second, third and the sixth of the FIDE ranking respectively are expected to participate in the tournament.
According to the source, an American chess grandmaster and a five-time U.S. champion Gata Kamsky is set to participate in the tournament as well.
Armenian grandmaster Varuzhan Hakobyan, representing the United States, is also included in the list of the participants.

Meanwhile, the Women’s Championship features Irina Krush - an American chess International Grandmaster (GM) who has won the U.S. Women's Chess Championship seven times, a four-time U.S. Women’s Champion and three-time Ukrainian Women’s Champion Anna Zatonskih as well as the 2016 champion Armenian Tatev Abrahamyan.
